Yuanchao advises on commercial and corporate matters, including drafting and reviewing contracts and leases, advising on employment, business transactions, intellectual property and general commercial matters, and helping clients achieve business goals.

Yuanchao has a practical, considered approach to his work, taking time to understand what a client seeks to achieve before delivering clear, commercially sensible advice.

He began his legal career in the Victorian Government, working across insurance litigation, property law, criminal law and public law matters. This experience sharpened his attention to detail, providing him with a structured, methodical approach to navigating complex problems and managing risk for clients.

Yuanchao holds Bachelor of Arts (BA) and Juris Doctor (JD) degrees from the University of Melbourne. He’s also a first aid certificate holder – useful, if nothing else, if anyone’s at risk of dying laughing! All jokes aside, however, we’re thrilled he’s joined the team, and we look forward to working with him in the months and years ahead.

Outside work, Yuanchao enjoys running (he’s currently plotting his next half marathon) and has a passion for food. He likes cooking, finding its craft and creativity meditative and satisfying (he also says he bakes, although his repertoire to date consists of one item: a very reliable Earl Grey scone). He welcomes recommendations for great healthy snacks to incorporate into his kitchen regimen. When he is not in the kitchen or running, he can be found playing mahjong, board games, or deeply immersed in a game of Cities Skylines.
