Jean Kallmyr recently joined Rankin Business Lawyers, bringing with her a wealth of experience across both the legal and business worlds.
With more than 25 years of experience spanning business, investment management, corporate governance and strategic advisory, Jean brings a broad commercial perspective to her work as a lawyer. Her legal experience includes corporate and commercial law, intellectual property and employment law, working with businesses to navigate both their day-to-day legal needs and bigger commercial decisions.
With her extensive business background, Jean has a strong understanding of commercial realities, business operations and the practical challenges clients face. She takes the time to understand each client’s objectives, priorities and risk profile, approaching every matter with genuine care and commitment.
Her advice is practical and commercially focused, balancing legal risk with likely outcomes, operational needs, the broader success of the client’s business and the cost of achieving the desired result. It’s an approach that fits well with the way we work at Rankin – providing clear legal advice that makes sense in the real world.
Jean holds a Juris Doctor with Distinction from the University of Southern Queensland as well as an MBA. Her combination of legal and business experience means she understands that good legal advice needs to work in practice – not just on paper.
She also brings an international perspective to the Rankin team. Jean is fluent in Swedish and Mandarin, alongside English, and has lived and worked across different countries and industries throughout her career.
Outside the office, Jean enjoys keeping active with swimming and tennis. She also has a creative side and enjoys painting – a good counterbalance to the contracts, corporate matters and legal problem-solving that fill the working week.
