Joseph Carneli, Senior Associate

Joseph is a senior commercial lawyer and assists our clients with an extensive array of commercial contract documentation and advice.

Joseph has a wide and varied professional and academic background. He holds a Master of Laws (Juris Doctor) from Monash University as well as a Bachelor of Business (with first class honours) from La Trobe University.

Before coming to the law, Joseph managed a small business for many years and also worked in marketing and product management in industries as diverse as resources and construction materials to premium fashion goods.

Having been on both sides of the client relationship, Joseph has a unique insight into the everyday challenges faced by businesses and is consequently passionate about offering his clients legal advice that is realistic, commercial and above all can be practically acted upon.

Joseph began his legal career in litigation and dispute resolution, and thus has extensive knowledge of commercial contract enforcement, appearing in Courts and Tribunals at various jurisdictional levels. He is therefore uniquely placed to offer his clients no-nonsense, practical advice on maximising and safeguarding their contractual rights whilst also minimising legal risk.

Joseph assists clients with negotiating, preparing and reviewing various forms of commercial agreements including business sale contracts, supply and distribution agreements, licensing agreements, shareholders’ & unitholders’ agreements, trust deeds, commercial leases, intellectual property licences among many others. He is also uniquely positioned to offer his clients straightforward governance assistance, corporate advisory services, business structuring advice as well as incisive guidance on their duties, liabilities and risks as company directors.
